We are Gemma and Luis. We started our home bakery with the hope of building a stable and meaningful life together.
Newlywed starting home kitchen business
At the time, we didn’t have enough finances to start a full business, so we began from our home kitchen. Gemma came from a design and fashion background, and Luis came from the cooking industry. We wanted to create something that allowed both of us to use our skills, so we chose dessert.
Gemma built the brand and crafted the entire visual identity, while Luis focused on perfecting the baking recipe. Together, we chose to specialize in salt bread (not just any salt bread, but uniquely Korean salt bread).
We dreamed of having our own physical store, but financial limitations held us back. So, we started from home. Baking in our tiny apartment, turning a small space into the beginning of something big.
We fought a lot, and maybe we still do, but over time we found a way to work together and become strong business partners. We grew through social media, and eventually the demand became too much for our home kitchen.
That’s when we knew it was time to take the next step. We signed a lease and decided to move forward with our dream of opening a physical store. We were never fully ready, but we weren’t afraid to make bold choices. Now we are preparing to open our brick and mortar bakery and get ready to serve you as soon as possible.
Just like our name, we wanted our brand to feel out of the ordinary. Something classic with a twist. Something unexpected.
